Report into proposed regulation banning sales of peat in England
The OIM has accepted a request for a report from the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs in respect of a proposed regulation banning the sale of peat and peat-containing products in England.
The OIM will aim to complete and publish our report within 26 weeks, in line with the Guidance on the Operation of the CMA’s UK Internal Market functions.

Request from the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs
4 August 2022: The OIM has accepted a request for a report from the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs in respect of a proposed regulation.
2 August 2022: The Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs wrote to the Office for the Internal Market (OIM) requesting that it provide a report, under section 34(1) of the UK Internal Market Act 2020, on the Secretary of State’s proposed regulation that will ban the sale of peat and peat containing products. This proposed regulation applies to England.
The OIM will aim to consider this request and decide as to whether to accept or decline it within the next 20 working days.
