Details

The International Levee Handbook is a collection of good practice and guidance on the design, construction, maintenance and improvement of levees (flood embankments). It investigates the specific challenges faced during the lifecycle of levees.

This handbook offers international good practice on levees based on current knowledge and experience from six countries. It provides a decision support framework for competent engineers, rather than a prescriptive decision-making code of practice. The handbook is relevant to the types of flood embankment managed by the Environment Agency, private owners and other operating authorities in the UK.

This project ran from 2010 to 2014.
