IP Attaché: Samuel Stone, China

Samuel leads the IP attaché team at the British Embassy in Beijing, covering the China and Hong Kong markets

The Intellectual Property Office (IPO) welcomes its latest addition to the UK global intellectual property attaché network.

Samuel will have responsibility for intellectual property engagement in China. He will be based at the British Embassy in Beijing and lead the UK’s intellectual property attaché team in the country. The UK IPO has posted an attaché team to China since 2011, to enhance engagement on intellectual property rights and provide support to UK businesses operating in the market.

Before joining the Intellectual Property Office, Samuel worked at the Department for Business and Trade (DBT), in the UK, on trade policy and market access in China and Hong Kong. This involved working to identify opportunities for trade and investment cooperation, and to improve market access for British businesses. Prior to this, Samuel worked as a policy professional in the UK Civil Service across areas including energy policy, tax policy, EU-exit preparations, and infrastructure projects.
