Better Regulation in Defra

Defra documents dealing with Better Regulation: reducing regulatory burdens and cutting red tape.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

This collection brings together Defra’s documents relating to Better Regulation: reducing regulatory burdens, cutting red tape and post implementation reviews.

Defra has statutory commitments to review regulations. Reviews help manage the level of regulation and limit the burden on business. An enhanced list of Defra legislation can be found on DefraLex.

All documents relating to the statement of new regulation were published by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills.

The Cutting Red Tape programme, launched in July 2015, allowed businesses to tell government how it could cut red tape, and reduce bureaucratic barriers to growth and productivity, within their sector.

Smarter Environmental Regulation Review

Defra’s Smarter Environmental Regulation Review reviewed and rationalised environmental guidance and data reporting.
