Border Innovation Hub

This hub brings together information from across government to help provide industry with the tools needed to innovate at the border.

Through this hub you will find links to border related Application Programming Interface’s (APIs) which allow companies to integrate their solutions with government systems.

We will be looking to set standards with industry around data sharing, interoperability and security. As these standards are developed we will make these publicly available and accessible from this hub to guide the creation of new solutions.

This hub will be updated with opportunities for industry to join pilots and apply for government procurement opportunities.

The Border Innovation Hub runs regular workshops with mailing list members - you can sign up to the mailing list or send enquiries to us by email [email protected]

Overview

In December 2020 the government published its 2025 UK Border strategy which set out our ambitions for the border over the next 5 years and beyond.

This strategy includes illustrated user journeys on proposed changes to improve the user experience at the border.

Technology and innovation to unlock new possibilities for smoother and safer border processes is a key element of the new strategy.

It outlines our technology and innovation roadmap as set out below, which highlighted some of the actions the government will take to work with industry to drive forward this innovation.

As part of the roadmap, this hub has been created to help provide the information and tools from across the government that are necessary to help industry to innovate. The hub will be updated to share opportunities for industry to take part in pilots to test new border innovation and with opportunities to apply for government procurement opportunities.
