King Charles III England Coast Path: Filey Brigg to North Gare

The 126 km (78 miles) of coast path between Filey Brigg and North Gare is open to the public. Coastal access rights came into force along this stretch of coast in 2 sections, on 21 July 2016 and 18 September 2019, by order of the Secretary of State.

Coastal access rights normally apply to all land that is coastal margin - including any land seaward of the route - unless it falls into a category of excepted land.
Filey Brigg to Newport Bridge
Stage of progress: Open
The 110 km (68 miles) stretch of the England Coast Path (ECP) from Filey Brigg to Newport Bridge is now open to the public. Coastal access rights came into force along this stretch of coast on 21 July 2016 by order of the Secretary of State.
Natural England’s original proposals were approved with modifications by the Secretary of State on 15 January 2016.
The changes include minor amendments to the landward boundary of the coastal margin shown on the maps within the North York Moors National Park. The text description remains unchanged.
The area of land south of the River Tees is subject to a direction excluding the right of access under section 24 of the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000. This direction has been modified to include industrial land further to the west of Smiths Dock Road.

Newport Bridge to North Gare
Stage of progress: Open
The 16 km (10 miles) stretch of the England Coast Path (ECP) from Newport Bridge to North Gare is now open to the public. Coastal access rights came into force along this stretch of coast on 18 September 2019 by order of the Secretary of State.
The report maps show the route of the ECP along this stretch of coast and the adjoining land that is coastal margin, as approved by the Secretary of State on 21 July 2016.
