The Section 106 Affordable Housing Clearing Service

This page brings together information about the Section 106 Affordable Housing Clearing Service.

Homes England has launched the Section 106 Affordable Housing Clearing Service to help facilitate and accelerate the sale of uncontracted and unsold affordable homes across England (excluding London, where the Greater London Authority has responsibility for affordable housing delivery).

This service was launched in December 2024 following engagement with housebuilders, registered providers (RPs) and local authorities (LAs) and will be continue to be developed in the coming months.

Housebuilders can use the service to provide details of affordable homes they have planning permission to build, alongside private homes, but have been unable to find a buyer for. This information is then available for RPs and LAs to view.

This means greater visibility of opportunities, all in one place, for buyers and sellers to connect, build new partnerships and work together to get affordable homes sold and occupied.

The service will develop over the coming months and be refined according to user feedback.
