The responses to this consultation showed strong support for cat microchipping.
The government will introduce legislation to make cat microchipping compulsory, and will work with local authorities and veterinary professions to support scanning practices.

Consultation description
We want to know what you think about our plans to introduce compulsory cat microchipping in England and how you think this should be implemented.
We also want to know whether you think vets and other bodies should be required to scan cats and dogs for microchips in certain situations. For example, prior to euthanasia.
