Detail of outcome
This is a report on the outcome of the consultation on marine guidance notes (MGN) to replace M.1386 and M.1409 on the provision of emergency information to passengers on classes III to VI(A) ships and classes I, II and II(A) ship respectively.
Original consultation
Consultation description
M Notices M.1386 and M.1409 currently provide guidance on the provision of emergency information to passengers to owners/ operators of (a) Class III to VI(A) and (b) Class I, II and II(A) vessels respectively. Over time, M.1386 and M.1409 have become out of date as some of the legislation to which they refer has changed. The draft MGNs therefore seek to update M.1386 and M.1409 and reflect obligations as expressed in current legislation. It should be noted, therefore, that these MGNs do not themselves bring about any changes or impose any obligations – they simply reflect obligations which are already in the cross-reference legislation.
