Consultation on Social Research Apprenticeship
Detail of outcome
Thank you to all who took the time to express your views in the consultation on Social Research Apprenticeship Occupational Proposal - Developing a Social Research Apprenticeship. It is hugely important that this new route into social research works for the entire profession and the Trailblazer Group value your input.
The feedback received in response to the consultation did not require any substantive changes to the Occupational Proposal before it was submitted to the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education for review by their Business and Administration Route Panel. Some feedback related to issues covered by subsequent work on the scheme, and this has been considered as part of the Trailblazer Group work to develop an Apprenticeship Standard

Consultation description
The Social Research Apprenticeship consultation is now closed. Please direct any enquiries to [email protected]
A group of social research employers and other organisations have formed a Trailblazer Group to develop an apprenticeship providing a new route into careers in social research. We see an apprenticeship as a pathway for a wider range of people to establish careers in the profession and support efforts to increase the diversity of the social research workforce.
The Trailblazer Group includes a range of employers interested in employing apprentices from central Government departments, research agencies and institutes as well as representatives from membership organisations such as the Market Research Society and the Social Research Association. The Group is working with the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (IfATE).
The Trailblazer Group has developed an Occupational Proposal for a Social Research Apprenticeship that we will submit in early November 2022. IfATE will review the proposal and advise whether the occupation meets the requirements for development as an apprenticeship.
If IfATE agree the occupation proposal, the Trailblazer Group will move on to the next stage of the apprenticeship by working up an occupational standard and end-point assessment (EPA) plan and gathering evidence to inform the IfATE funding band recommendation. We will consult again as the work progresses.
We would welcome views on this apprenticeship and the detailed scope set out in the Occupational Proposal by 17.00pm on Friday 14 October 2022.
