We received 40 direct responses to the consultation, with the National Farmers’ Union (NFU) and the British Free Range Egg Producers Association (BFREPA) surveying and providing insights from 122 and 102 egg producers, respectively.

As a result of this consultation, the UK government will initiate the development of draft regulations aimed at establishing clearer contractual frameworks within the sector, which will be tested with industry.

• the nature of the relationships across the supply chain  
• whether the egg supply chain could be improved and how  

This consultation will inform our understanding of the issues around fairness and transparency that exist within the sector. Your responses will help us to design future policy aimed at promoting better business practice and making the supply chain fairer for all.
