As a result of this consultation, we are:
- making regulations to implement the proposed penalties to support the enforcement of the technical standards in the type approval framework
- implementing the requirements for DAB radios in new passenger vehicles, where radios are fitted (see the outcome of the Department for Culture, Media and Sport’s related consultation on the implementation of the European Electronic Communications Code)

reviewing proposed changes to the technical requirements and production limits for small series manufacturers for inclusion in future legislation

Consultation description
Seeking views on 2 proposals affecting the manufacturing of road vehicles. The proposals are:
- the Vehicle Certification Agency and the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency are granted increased powers to better monitor the manufacturing of road vehicles in order to maintain safety and environmental standards, known as type approval, plus issue civil penalties for non-compliance
- all new cars and buses which are fitted with a radio must have a radio capable of receiving digital radio stations, in line with the European Electronic Communications Code
