Consultation outcome

NDTMS annual reports and methodology: proposed changes

This consultation has concluded

Detail of outcome

There was an overwhelmingly positive response to the proposals in the consultation, so we will aim to incorporate format changes for all 3 the 2018 to 2019 reports (adults, young people and secure settings).

Due to the limited time from the consultation closing to the publication date of the young people’s report, the changes in methodology will be incorporated for the 2019 to 2020 report, which will be published in autumn 2020. This will ensure that all changes are thoroughly quality assured and verified alongside the trend data.

Consultation description

The national drug treatment monitoring system (NDTMS) collects activity data from alcohol and drug treatment services in England. The data is collated by Public Health England (PHE) on behalf of the Department of Health and Social Care and used to provide information to support local areas achieve the objectives set out in relevant national strategies.

We’re proposing to update the format of the following NDTMS reports to a shorter, more accessible format:

Substance misuse treatment for adults

Substance misuse treatment for young people

Substance misuse treatment in secure settings

We explain more about the proposed changes in the consultation document.

This is a public consultation and anyone is welcome to contribute.
