Consultation description

We would particularly like to hear from regular users of these statistics in order to understand the impact of the proposed changes which include:

  • further integration of the current National Statistics on Adult Smoking Habits with other ONS sources, specifically the Integrated Household Survey (IHS) and Annual Population Survey (APS) to ensure clear and coherent communication of ONS smoking estimates

  • removal of non-harmonised questions on long-standing illnesses and their associated the Adult General Health publication

  • removing collection of data on the use of medical services due to lack of comparability with other official sources

Harmonised questions on long-standing illnesses will still be asked and the annual publication of Adult Drinking Habits in Great Britain will not be affected by these changes.

Ways to respond and contact details

If you wish to provide feedback on the proposed changes, please complete the online questionnaire. The questionnaire and full details of the consultation are available on the ONS website.
