Secretary of State launches consultation on non–jury trials
Consultation description
The Government is seeking views from all interested parties, individuals and groups from across the United Kingdom on the matters covered by this consultation.
Purpose of this consultation
Extending non-jury trial provisions under the Justice and Security (Northern Ireland) Act 2007 requires secondary legislation which must be approved by both Houses of Parliament. The Government recognises the need to keep the public informed and to allow people the opportunity to comment on policy proposals.
This consultation therefore invites people to provide views on the extension of non-jury trial provisions under the Justice and Security (Northern Ireland) Act 2007 for a further two years from the end of July 2019.
Scope of the consultation
This consultation applies to all of the United Kingdom.
Duration of the consultation
