Detail of outcome

The Department for Transport’s ‘Appraisal and modelling strategy’ presents priorities for the development of Transport Analysis Guidance (TAG) for the next 5 years following the close of this public consultation in October 2018.

With help from stakeholders we held over 10 events and workshops across England, yielding valuable feedback and opinion. A summary of discussions at the theme-based workshops and results from a TAG user survey are published alongside the strategy.

We have also published a summary of an externally organised event held during the consultation, which sought to gather stakeholder views.

Consultation description

The Department for Transport’s (DfT’s) appraisal framework aims to provide as full a view as possible about the wide range of impacts transport has on the economy, environment and society. Our guidance on how to conduct transport appraisals, WebTAG, draws on best practice in government, academia, and industry. We aim to ensure that it reflects the latest evidence and appraisal methodologies.

This consultation seeks views on the main themes and priorities for developing the evidence base underpinning our appraisal guidance over the next 5 years. We are also seeking views on how we can make the guidance more user friendly.
