Use of photographs for non-CJS purposes: draft guidance
Consultation description
The Forensic Science Regulator published codes of practice and conduct (codes) for forensic science providers and practitioners in the criminal justice system (CJS) in 2011. The codes are being supplemented with appendices covering evidence specific requirements, guidance, information and protocols. In order to finalise appendices, relevant ones are being consulted on and feedback sought.
The Home Office published guidance to forensic pathologists on the use of photographs. The regulator is considering the publication of an updated version of that document as general guidance to forensic scientists and forensic pathologists.
The consultation draft has been published to seek comment on whether the regulator should publish such guidance and, if he does, comment on the draft provided.
This draft guidance is issued to allow comments from interested parties; all comments will be given consideration prior to publication.
Comments should be sent on the feedback form provided to [email protected] and should be submitted by 28 February 2014.
