Consultation description

We want your views on ‘How to End Sexual Violence in Conflict’ so that we can ensure the voices of young people are heard on this issue.

Plan UK is leading a youth consultation on behalf of the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office. We would welcome your answers to the consultation questions. Your thoughts and opinions from the consultation will be used by our Summit Youth Group to inform their policy recommendations and the overall outcomes of the Global Summit to End Sexual Violence in Conflict.

Sexual violence in conflict destroys lives and damages communities. Every day, women, men, boys and girls continue to suffer the consequences of this violation, but we believe something can and must be done to change this situation.

The UK Foreign Secretary William Hague and Angelina Jolie, Special Envoy of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, will co-chair a Global Summit to End Sexual Violence in Conflict on 10-13 June 2014 at ExCel London to create global momentum for change and encourage actions that will help prevent and respond to sexual violence in conflict.

Over the last eighteen months the political will to tackle these terrible crimes and injustices has greatly increased. The Summit in London in June will bring together those who can help turn political will into practical action. It will be the biggest meeting ever held on this topic. Representatives of governments from over 145 countries, United Nations agencies, the African Union, civil society, the media and the general public will come together to show their support. We want the Summit to create a sense of irreversible movement towards ending the use of sexual violence in conflict, and you are a key part of that vision.
