Book your ticket for the 2-day conference ‘Beating the cheats: Quality, safety and authenticity in the food chain’ by Friday 24 October and you will pay the reduced price of £100 for 1 day or £160 for 2 days.

Professor Chris Elliott will open the conference with a keynote presentation outlining the conclusions from his review into the integrity and assurance of food supply networks.

Over the course of the 2-day event, delegates will hear from expert speakers who will be outlining methods for “Beating the cheats”, including presentations on the latest cutting edge analytical methods and research developments in the fight against food fraud.

Speakers from Campden BRI and Leatherhead Food Research will describe how measurement can ensure the quality and authenticity of food products and Liz Moran, President of the Association of Public Analysts, will discuss the modernisation of the public analyst service.

The programme includes several representatives from government agencies, including Chun-Han Chan, from the Food Standards Agency, who will highlight the implications of the Food Information Regulations 2014 due to come into force in December and Paul Brereton, from the Food and Environment Research Agency, who will outline the Food Integrity project which aims to address many of the post-horsemeat scandal issues at a European level. Lucy Foster from the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs will discuss the priorities and challenges relating to food authenticity.

The conference is aimed at scientists, regulators, enforcement agencies, industry and policy makers who are responsible for making measurements or using measurement data.
