Bratislava: call for proposals for projects supporting open societies

The British Embassy in Bratislava is inviting Slovak non-profit organisations to submit proposals for projects that support open societies.

This was published under the 2019 to 2022 Johnson Conservative government

The British Embassy in Bratislava invites Slovak non-profit organisations to submit proposals for projects of up to €6000 on the following topics:

  • promote human rights, the rule of law and strengthen democratic institutions
  • support media freedom and investigative journalism to help Slovakia to improve its ranking on the RSF World Press Freedom Index
  • enhance the social inclusion of vulnerable minorities
  • promote the recognition of the valuable contribution to society of the LGBT+ community in Slovakia

Bids can focus on one or several of these topics. Successful bidders will be expected to provide end-to-end delivery of their proposals, including regular updates, as agreed in advance with the Embassy.

We can consider co-funded activity but please make clear in any proposal if this is the case and the details of any co-funding.

All project activity must be complete by 14 March 2022.

How to apply

Please complete and submit the below documentation to [email protected] by 15 August 2021.

An Embassy programme board panel will assess the bids by 20 August 2021. The outcome of the programme board will be communicated by 27 August 2021.

Assessment criteria

Proposals will be assessed against the following key criteria:

  • we can only grant this funding to non-profit organisations
  • feasibility of proposals setting out how this activity would be delivered
  • value for money
  • alignment with Embassy objectives
  • how impact will be sustained
  • consideration of risks to delivery
