On 24 March British Ambassador Sophie Honey hosted a reception to celebrate UK education and kick start the creation of the network that brings together generations of future leaders who have had an opportunity to study at a UK university. She said:

I welcome the reboot of the Chevening Alumni network in Slovenia. It is a great opportunity for UK Alumni to network, build on their professional links and develop a closer relationship with our Embassy as well. People who have studied at one of the great UK universities have gone on to achieve great things in their careers. I wish the network all the success.

Following the reception, a weekend training took place in Terme Čatež. A core group of nine Chevening scholars received team building training and drafted the network’s plan of activities for the coming year. They will be elaborated over the next month so watch out for some interesting activities, including networking and social events that the group plans to organise.

Together with guest Chevenings from Poland and Croatia the group discussed ways how to re-boot the Chevening alumni organisations in Europe with a view to contribute to the Wilton Park conference in 2018.
