Commenting on the re-appointment today, Postal Affairs Minister Norman Lamb said:

“Donald Brydon has proven over the last three years that he has the qualities and attributes needed to lead the Royal Mail Board through what has been a challenging period. I’m delighted to announce his re-appointment. His skills and experience will be needed as the company moves into the next phase of its development.”

  1. This appointment has been made in accordance with the requirements of the Commissioner for Public Appointments.

  2. Donald Brydon terms and conditions on his reappointment remain unchanged. His remuneration is unchanged at £200,000 per year.

  3. He has been appointed for three years from 26 March 2012. He was first appointed Chair of Royal Mail Holdings plc in March 2009 and is also Chair of Smiths Group plc - the global technology group. He is a former Chair of Everychild. He is not involved in any political activity and does not hold any other ministerial appointments.

  4. Donald Brydon has been appointed Chair of Royal Mail Holdings plc and also its subsidiary company Royal Mail Group Limited.
