Foreign Secretary welcomes Finland’s agreement to host the 2012 Conference on the Middle East WMD Free Zone
Foreign Secretary William Hague: "I believe that a Middle East free of all WMD and their means of delivery is an achievable goal, and one which is vital to the long term peace and security of the region."
Commenting on the designation of Finland as host of the Conference on Nuclear Weapons Free Zone in the Middle East, Foreign Secretary William Hague said:
“I am pleased that Finland has agreed to host the 2012 Conference on the Middle East WMD Free Zone and I offer the Finnish Government our full support.
“I believe that a Middle East free of all WMD and their means of delivery is an achievable goal, and one which is vital to the long term peace and security of the region. But it will not happen overnight nor without the commitment and support of all states in the region. I hope that the conference will be an opportunity for the region to discuss and make progress on this.”
