Government Chemist Conference 2014 announcement

A 2-day conference 'Beating the cheats: Quality, safety and authenticity in the food chain' will take place on 24 and 25 November 2014.

Scientists, regulators, enforcement agencies, industry and policy makers are invited to join the Government Chemist for the 2014 conference at The Royal Society, London to discuss topics relating to food fraud, food authenticity and food safety.

The Government Chemist will open the conference before a keynote presentation by Professor Chris Elliott who undertook the Elliott Review into the integrity and assurance of food supply networks. The conference programme will link the themes of quality, safety and authenticity in the food supply network and will include presentations on:

  • government food integrity and authenticity programmes
  • food information regulations
  • referee case outcomes
  • quantification of meat species DNA
  • allergen detection
