Minister for Asia statement on North Korea ballistic missile tests
Minister for Asia, Amanda Milling, condemns the latest ballistic missile tests by North Korea on 24 May.
Minister for Asia, Amanda Milling said:
The UK condemns the latest launch of an Intercontinental ballistic missile, and two short range ballistic missiles, by North Korea - a clear breach of UN Security Resolutions.
Repeated testing is deeply damaging for regional security and stability. We urge North Korea to refrain from any further testing, return to dialogue swiftly and abandon its nuclear and ballistic missile programmes in a complete, verifiable and irreversible manner.
We remain gravely concerned by the humanitarian situation in North Korea following the outbreak of Covid-19. We urge North Korea to facilitate access for international humanitarian organisations for the delivery of urgently required humanitarian goods such as food and medicines and for independent assessment of humanitarian needs as soon as possible.
