Residents invited to drop-in sessions ahead of M6 resurfacing work near Penkridge, Staffordshire
Drop in sessions are being held to reassure those living near the M6 in Staffordshire ahead of construction work which could cause some disruption.
The fourteen-week project, which starts on 15 May, involves complete reconstruction of the hard shoulder from the M6 junction 13 Acton Trussell to south of junction 12 near Cannock on both carriageways. Work will be carried out on the southbound carriageway first, before switching to the northbound carriageway later.
Diversions will not be required during the overnight work, which takes place between 10pm and 6am, but traffic will be restricted to just lane three of the carriageway being worked on.
The work is part of the scheme to convert the M6 between junctions 10a and 13 to a smart motorway, helping to relieve congestion by using technology to vary speed limits.
It also involves the hard shoulder being converted into traffic lane to create additional capacity.
Before the work begins, a drop-in session will be held for residents at the Haling Dene Centre, Cannock Road, Penkridge, ST19 5DT on Wednesday 14 May between 5 pm and 8 pm.
Officials from the Highways Agency and its contractor, Carillion, will be on hand to answer any questions and explain the work being carried out.
