DCMS and its public bodies produce official statistics covering its sectors.


Statistics publications

This page sets out the official statistics published by DCMS. Following the recent machinery of government changes, DCMS will continue to publish some statistics on behalf of the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT). These are listed within the relevant publications below. Please contact [email protected] with any queries.

Economic Estimates for DCMS Sectors This statistical series includes estimates of Gross Value Added (GVA), Employment, Earnings, Business Demographics and Trade for DCMS sectors. Estimates for the digital sector are included in releases published up to March 2024.
Participation Survey The Participation Survey is a nationally representative survey of adults (16+) in England, tracking engagement in DCMS Sectors and the Digital Sector. It has been running since October 2021, replacing the Taking Part Survey. These publications include some statistics produced on behalf of DSIT.
Community Life Survey The Community Life Survey is a nationally representative annual survey of adults (16+) in England providing data on issues that are key to encouraging social action and empowering communities. This includes, volunteering, charitable giving, community engagement, well-being and loneliness.
Total income of DCMS-funded cultural organisations This annual statistical release presents the total income generated by the 15 DCMS-Sponsored museums and galleries, and by other cultural organisations which receive Grant-in-Aid from DCMS.
Sponsored museums and galleries monthly visits This quarterly statistical release provides the number of monthly and quarterly visits to the 15 DCMS-Sponsored museums and galleries.
Sponsored museums and galleries annual performance indicators This statistical release provides aggregate statistics on the annual performance indicators for the 15 DCMS-sponsored museums and galleries.
Reported Treasure finds This annual statistical release presents data on the number of reported treasure finds within England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
DCMS Sectors Skills Estimates This series provides estimates of skills gaps and skills shortages.
Ad-hoc publications This page brings together additional analysis not included in our standard publications.

In November 2024, we published a Youth Participation pilot survey as official statistics in development. This surveyed young people in England aged 10 to 19 looking at levels of participation in after-school activities.
