How we use social media and blogs to communicate with you.
Our accounts
We use Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), LinkedIn, Instagram and YouTube to communicate with you.
We have 3 Facebook pages:
- Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) – for road safety professionals and others interested in our work
- The Official Highway Code – for reminders about the rules of the road
- DVSA jobs - for jobs and careers at DVSA
X
We have 2 X accounts:
- @DVSAgovuk– for corporate news from DVSA
- @DVSAEnforcement - for updates about DVSA’s enforcement work
Our house rules
We’re happy to help you and look forward to seeing your views and feedback on our account.
However, we expect our users to offer us the same level of courtesy that we offer them, so we have some house rules which mean you need to:
- comply with our the social media platform’s terms of use as well as these terms of use
- be solely responsible for any content you post
We’ll remove or report posts which we feel are inappropriate and block or mute users who post content which we believe is:
- abusive, racist, sexist, homophobic or inflammatory, including the use of swear words
- graphic, sensitive or has offensive imagery
- deceptive or misleading
- personal information such as telephone numbers and addresses
- advertising commercial activity or make requests for donations or money, unless agreed in advance with us
- in breach of any intellectual property rights, law or regulation
- identifying individual DVSA employees
- political in nature
- spam (persistent posting of the same content)
- aggressive in tone or threatening harm
Responding to your comments
We read every comment and respond where and when we can. We make no commitment to respond to every individual comment.
We cannot engage in political issues or answer questions that break our house rules.
We will aim to respond to customer enquiries sent through direct message on our main Facebook and X accounts within 48 hours.
Our accounts are moderated from Monday to Friday. If you think you’ve seen a user breaking these rules alert us by contacting [email protected].
Being liked, followed or retweeted by us
Being ‘liked’ or followed by one of our accounts does not mean endorsement.
We’ll share content with our followers which we consider relevant to our policies and does not mean endorsement.
We’ll share content if you ask us to publicise an event or activity you’re doing for charity and there’s a connection with DVSA - for example, if you’re a driving instructor.
Using our content
Under the Open Government Licence, you’re free to:
- copy, publish, distribute and transmit the information
- adapt the information
- exploit the information commercially and non-commercially for example, by combining it with other information, or by including it in your own product or application

The rules for YouTube are different. You can stream our YouTube videos, embed them in your website, or link to them.
However, you’re not allowed to:
- download our videos from YouTube
- reupload our videos to your own YouTube channel or other video sharing service

We can change our policy and terms and conditions at any time.
We’re not responsible for the advertising content on social media websites, and we do not choose which adverts appear on our pages.
We accept no responsibility for social media websites being unavailable.
