Office of the Traffic Commissioner (Licensing)

The Office of the Traffic Commissioner (Licensing) is responsible for processing applications for heavy goods vehicle (HGV) and public service vehicle (PSV) operator licences and providing administrative support to traffic commissioners. All licence applications are processed in Leeds, along with bus registrations for England and Wales. Bus registrations in Scotland are dealt with by staff at the Office of the Traffic Commissioner (Scotland).

Arriving by public transport

Trains run from all over the country to Bristol Temple Meads (Bristol central train station) and Bristol Parkway train station. Connecting trains are available from Bristol Temple Meads train station and Bristol Parkway train station to Lawrence Hill train station. Jubilee House is only a 30 minute walk from Bristol Temple Meads Train Station via the Bristol to Bath cycle path. Taxis are available from outside Bristol Temple Meads Train Station. Jubilee House is only a 2 minute walk from Lawrence Hill train station. Head west on Church Road/A420 toward Earl Russel Way continue to follow A420 (0.2 miles). Turn right onto Croydon Street.

Buses run from Broadmead Shopping Centre, Bristol. Jubilee House is served by the following buses 6, 6A, 7, 36, 41, 42, 43, 44 and 45. These services operate outside Primark, Broadmead Shopping Centre, Horsefair, opposite Marks and Spencer, Horsefair, Bristol. Services 8 or 9 is also available from directly outside Bristol Temple Meads train station which runs via Broadmead Shopping Centre for the connecting buses above. Ask for the Lawrence Hill stop.

Arriving by car

Visitor parking is limited and a space cannot be guaranteed.

From M5:

  1. Leave at junction 15 and head east on the M4.
  2. From the M4 leave at junction 19 and head south along the M32 to junction 3.
  3. At the roundabout turn left onto the A4320 Easton Way towards Bath.
  4. Go through a set of traffic lights to a large roundabout (Lawrence Hill Roundabout).
  5. Take the first exit A420 to Chippenham and then take the first left into Croydon Street.
  6. The Jubilee House entrance is about 150 metres on your right.

Clamping is in operation in the area of Lawrence Hill Industrial Park - please park in designated visitor parking spaces

  1. Follow signs for Liverpool, Birmingham on M6 southbound.
  2. Leave at junction 23 (signposted Manchester, Liverpool, Newton), at roundabout take the second exit (signposted Manchester).
  3. Continue onto A580 East Lancs Road.
  4. Take second exit at roundabout, then next left at traffic lights onto Stone Cross Lane north by Stone Cross public house, McDonalds and Travel Inn.
  5. The third exit at the next roundabout leads to the office.

From the south:

  1. Follow M6 northbound for Liverpool.
  2. Leave at junction 23 (signposted St Helens, Liverpool, Southport), then at roundabout take the 6th exit (signposted Manchester).
  3. Continue onto A580 East Lancs Road.
  4. Take second exit at the roundabout, then next left at traffic lights onto Stone Cross Lane north by Stone Cross public house, McDonalds and Travel Inn.
  5. The third exit at the next roundabout leads to the office.

From the east:

  1. Join A580, signposted St Helens at junction 14 on M60 orbital.
  2. Follow the A580 for approximately 10 miles, and approach traffic lights shortly after sign showing M6 2 miles.
  3. Take a right turn onto Stone Cross Lane North at lights with Stone Cross public house, McDonalds and Travel Inn.
  4. The third exit at the next roundabout leads to the office.

Trains run from all over the country to Bangor train station. Taxis are available from outside the train station as the office is 9.5 miles away in Caernarfon. The 5C bus service runs from Bangor train station disembark at the main Bus Station in Caernarfon, the office is a short walk along Bangor Street.

There is no visitors parking at Swyddfeydd Penrallt Offices. On the last roundabout take the fourth exit onto Balaclava Road and there is a pay and display car park on your left From A55:

  1. Leave at junction 10.
  2. At the roundabout, take the first exit onto A4087.
  3. At the roundabout, take the first exit onto A4087/ Y Felinheli bypass.
  4. At the roundabout, take the second exit signposted Caernarfon.
  5. At the roundabout, take the first exit onto A4087.
  6. At the roundabout, take the third onto B4419/ Bangor Street.
  7. Continue on B4419/ Bangor Street, Swyddfeydd Penrallt Offices is past the library at the top of the hill.

Arriving by public transport

The Eastbrook office is approximately half a mile from Cambridge Railway Station (in Station Road). There is a regular (green) Park and Ride bus serving Cambridge Railway Station from the (east) Babraham Road Park and Ride site and also the (north) Milton Park and Ride site. Guided bus route A serves Cambridge Railway Station from the (south) Trumpington Park and Ride site and bus route Uni 4 serves nearby Brooklands Avenue from the (west) Madingley Road Park and Ride site.

Arriving by car

There are a limited number of visitor parking spaces on site. There is on-street pay and display parking in Shaftesbury Road and nearby Clarendon Road (both off Brooklands Avenue) and a multi-storey car park adjacent to Cambridge Leisure, Clifton Road (off Cherry Hinton Road).

From the M11:

  1. At junction 11, take the A10 exit to A1309.
  2. At the roundabout, take the 3rd exit and continue to follow A1309.
  3. Continue straight onto Trumpington Rd/A1134.
  4. Turn right onto Brooklands Ave.
  5. Take the 2nd right onto Shaftesbury Road.
  6. Take right at the end of the Shaftesbury Road prior to Cambridge University Press, signposted for Eastbrook.

Arriving by public transport

Waterloo Place and neighbouring Princes Street are serviced by an abundance of buses. In addition Edinburgh Bus Station is a short walk away where you will find a wide range of buses serving the whole country. The office is situated 5 minutes walk from Waverley Station affording easy access to Waterloo Place at the top of Waverley Steps (Princes Street exit). From here visitors should turn right and proceed to the junction at North Bridge crossing straight over at the lights. The office is located approximately 100 metres on the right.

Arriving by car

There are no public car parking facilities at the Stamp Office. However, there are multi-storey car parking facilities nearby at St James Centre on Leith Street, Greenside Place and New Street. The office is located at the east end of the main thoroughfare in Edinburgh (Princes Street) at its junction with North Bridge.
