Email: [email protected]

Requests are dealt with in accordance with the timescales of the FOI Act or other relevant legislation (eg Data Protection Act 1998, Environmental Information Regulations).

Information not made available

There will be occasions when we will not be able to supply all the information requested. These will only be in respect of information specifically exempted under the Freedom of Information Act, in particular when we are constrained by considerations of:

  • national security
  • legal and contractual obligations
  • our duty to keep sensitive information about individuals confidential

We will always make clear on such occasions why information is withheld. Members of the public have the right to appeal to the Information Commissioner against such a decision.

Anything not published under the scheme can be requested under the Freedom of Information Act by writing:

[email protected]

Pre-2008 UKAEA reports

Please note that the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) owns most of the pre-2008 UKAEA reports including those that relate to former sites including Dounreay, Harwell, Risley, Windscale and Winfrith.

You can access the NDA’s publication scheme through their website and make a request for information from the NDA by writing to:

[email protected]

Format

Normally material will be made available electronically. Paper copies will be made available on request.

Charges

In general, UKAEA does not charge for information provision, but retains the right to charge for written requests in line with the FOI regulations. Where a request for information would be excessively costly to deliver, the UKAEA will endeavour to liaise with the requesting body to determine a less costly solution. This decision will be reviewed on the same timeframe as the review of the publication scheme.
