Emily Partington MVO
Biography
Emily Partington took up the role of Deputy Head of Mission and HM Consul-General for Switzerland and Liechtenstein in September 2024.
Before joining the Embassy, she served in Paris as Public Affairs Counsellor and Spokesperson (2019-2023). Emily has also served the British government overseas in Mexico (2015-2016) and Afghanistan (2013-2015). In her London career she has held a number of conflict and security-focused roles, including a secondment to the Office of Security and Counter-Terrorism.
Emily holds Masters degrees in languages (Oxford University), international affairs (Sciences Po Paris) and political economy (London School of Economics). She was appointed MVO by HM The King in 2023.
Deputy Head of Mission, Switzerland
The Deputy Head of Mission is a senior diplomat and typically a key advisor to the Ambassador or High Commissioner. The Deputy is responsible for the daily management of an overseas Embassy or High Commission. They will represent the UK’s interests in the absence of the Ambassador as Chargé d’Affaires. A senior ranking Deputy may also take the title Minister. Smaller missions may not have a Deputy Head.
