Paul Willmott
Biography
Paul Willmott was appointed as a non-executive director at the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology in November 2024.
Paul is Chair of the Central Digital and Data Office, Chair of the Digital Advisory Board and has previously been co-chair of the Digital and Data Steering Group.
In parallel with his work with government, Paul leads digital and AI development for KIRKBI, the owner of the LEGO Brand, where he sits on several boards. He has 35 years of experience transforming businesses through digital means, as an executive, non-executive and advisor.
Paul was previously Global Managing Partner of McKinsey Digital. He has worked globally and across sectors, with a focus on consumer-facing industries. He started his career as a software engineer and technical architect at Accenture.
Non-executive board member
The main responsibilities of non-executive board members are to:
- attend meetings of the departmental board, chaired by the Secretary of State
- provide over-arching strategic guidance and insight to the department
