This report presents the findings of the Commission’s research into the relationship between charities, their beneficiaries, and public views of what being a recipient of a charity’s services might mean today.

It looks at the public’s knowledge about what is and isn’t charitable, as well as:

  • what difference personal experience makes to service expectations
  • and what stigma may be attached to using charity’s services

The commission’s research identifies a list of recommendations to help charities improve how they treat and reach out to beneficiaries, as well as managing their expectations.
