Details

On 29 October 2014, the Secretary of State for Transport granted a Development Consent Order (DCO) for the Able Marine Energy Park. The pre-application, examination and DCO documents can be found on the Planning Inspectorate website.

The DCO authorises Able UK Ltd. to construct a solid quay on the south bank of the River Humber together with an ecological compensation scheme, comprising both temporary and permanent habitat creation on the opposite bank. Associated development includes dredging and land reclamation, and onshore facilities for the manufacture, assembly and storage of marine energy installation components.

On 29 August 2021, the MMO received a request from SLR Consulting, on behalf of Able UK Ltd., to vary the Deemed Marine Licence contained within Schedule 8 of the Able Marine Energy Park Order 2014. The request is to change the proposed quay layout; add options to the form of construction of the quay; allow for a third cross dam within the reclamation area; change the consented deposit location for 1.1 million tonnes of clay; and amend the sequencing of the quay works.

A material amendment application to the made DCO (‘Material Change 2’) was submitted to the Planning Inspectorate for determination. On 16 July 2022, the Secretary of State for Transport authorised the Able Marine Energy Park Material Change 2 proposed changes issued a Development Consent (Amendment) Order. The pre-application, examination and DCO documents can be found on the Planning Inspectorate website.

The MMO’s decision was to vary the Deemed Marine Licence under section 72 of the Marine and Coastal Access Act (MCAA) 2009, effective from 01 August 2023.
