The Disability Unit is recruiting for board members and an independent co-chairperson to join a British Sign Language (BSL) Advisory Board.
Members will use their expertise and experience to help ensure the voices of Deaf people are recognised and valued in a way that informs policy and strategy across government.
The first term of the board will be from 2022 to 2025.
Applications closed at 5pm on Friday 2 September 2022.
The capitalised ‘D’ in ‘Deaf’ refers to people who have been deaf from birth or early childhood – all their lives – and sign language will be their first language. They view themselves as culturally deaf and may identify as being part of the Deaf community. In the UK, the term ‘deaf’ is used to refer to all levels of deafness. We will use Deaf in all of our pages in this way.
