Details

The Advocate General for Scotland invites applications from interested junior Counsel and solicitor advocates for appointment to a panel of ‘Junior Junior’ Counsel to the Advocate General for Scotland. It is anticipated that this panel will be convened for a period of six months. It is being convened at the request of the Secretary of State for the Home Department in order to cover tribunal appearance work to provide assistance to the Presenting Officers’ Unit in Glasgow.

Appointment to the panel is open to any member of the junior Scottish Bar who has called for less than three years or solicitor advocate called for the same period, other than counsel holding appointment as an Advocate Depute or as Standing Junior Counsel to the Advocate General or Scottish Government. It may be of particular interest to recently called advocates who are interested in gaining experience in government work.

Applications should be made by letter and should be accompanied by a current curriculum vitae. The letter should contain the applicant’s contact details. It should set out the applicant’s main areas of work, professional qualifications and year of call, together with any other qualifications or experience the applicant would wish to have considered.

Applications should be submitted in accordance with the instructions set out in the information for applicants by no later than midnight on Sunday 22 August 2021.
