Details

The TIR system allows UK customs officials to pack and seal goods before they’re transported outside the EU. The load won’t need to be inspected by customs officials at border crossings.

Use this form to apply to get a vehicle load compartment design approved so you can use it for a series of vehicles.

Apply at least one month before the design needs to be approved.

How to apply

  1. Download and fill in the application form.

  2. Save the application form on your computer.

  3. Send the application form to the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) using the service to apply for a vehicle certificate.

  4. Pay the application fee by credit or debit card (DVSA will contact you to do this after you’ve applied) or using a pre-funded account.

Your application can be delayed if you do not fill in the application form correctly.

You can also send the application by post. You can pay by cheque or postal order made out to ‘DVSA’.

What happens next

After the design is approved, you need to apply to get a certificate for each vehicle using the approved design.
