Details

The bat ‘earned recognition’ (Bat ER) class licence allows bat ecologists to carry out bat roost mitigation work.

Applications for the December 2024 round of bat ‘earned recognition’ (Bat ER) accreditation assessments have now closed. We will be contacting applicants with a decision in due course.

You can continue to follow this page for updates on timings of future application dates.

Sifting criteria for applications

A small number of applications will be selected to undergo accreditation assessment in order to test the revised Bat ER process. To ensure rigorous testing of the new assessment approach we are keen to have a broad spectrum of candidates, and applications will therefore be sifted based on the following criteria:

  • number of traditional ‘EPS-MIT’ applications submitted in the past 3 years
  • accreditation level applied for
  • accreditation annexes applied for
  • number of years working in ecology sector
  • approximate size of company or organisation

Following the sifting of applications based on the above criteria, the final candidates will be selected at random from across the spectrum. Where there are existing significant licence compliance issues or enforcement actions ongoing (or both), these applicants will not be selected for this round of accreditation testing.

Please be aware that future rounds of Bat ER accreditation will be subject to charging and further details will be published in due course.
