Details
This document illustrates the benefits of higher education (HE) classified according to market and non-market benefit, and whether they relate to the individual or society. A table showing the 4 quadrants provides links to relevant sources of evidence that we have identified on the specific benefits of HE.
Department for Business, Innovation & Skills (BIS) analysts developed this document. We based it on both our own and external analysis, drawing on the literature review ‘Things We Know and Don’t Know about the Wider Benefits of Higher Education’.
The document is an initial step towards collating a strong evidence base. We welcome comments on the presentation, benefits and sources identified. We intend to publish an updated version early 2014.
