The Environment Agency has received an application to vary an environmental permit under the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016 involving substantial change to a permit from Wessex Water Enterprises Limited.

This substantial variation is to add the following Schedule 1 listed activity under the Environment Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016: S5.4 A(1)(b)(i) Recovery or a mix of recovery and disposal of non-hazardous waste with a capacity exceeding 75 tonnes per day (or 100 tonnes per day if the only waste treatment activity is anaerobic digestion) involving biological treatment. The activity involves the biological treatment of sludge by anaerobic digestion. The facility is currently permitted as separate waste operation permits that will be varied into multi operator installation permits. The Wessex Water Limited permit shall form the main 5.4 activity permit, whilst the Wessex Water Enterprises Limited permit shall form a standalone directly associated activity (DAA) permit to the main 5.4 activity.
