Details

You must apply for a licence to show captive birds in competitions if they don’t have the correct ring.

On your application form (A21), you must:

  • say why your birds don’t have the correct close ring
  • include supplier details, import licence or permit number (if your birds were imported)
  • include your licence number and licence authority (if your birds were taken from the wild)

Send your completed application form to Natural England using the details on the form.

Licences are free. Natural England will decide whether to issue a licence within 30 working days of receiving your application.

How to report your actions

You must report any actions you took using this licence on the report form (LR21). You must report no later than 2 weeks after your licence expires, even if you’ve taken no action. Send your completed form by post or email to Natural England using the details on the form.
