Details
The map contained within this summary shows the estimated spatial distribution of local reservoirs of Mycobacterium bovis infection in the Edge Area of England. This was commissioned as part of work to develop criteria to identify areas with a likely reservoir of TB in badgers.
The criteria were developed using cattle data due to the scarcity of badger infection data. A more comprehensive report of this work is being prepared for submission to the peer reviewed scientific press in 2021.
Update May 2021:
This more comprehensive report is now complete and going through the peer review process in a scientific journal. At the same time it has been published as a preprint. The map published on this web page has been developed further in this report, to provide a better indication of uncertainty in the boundary of the local reservoir.
