Details

Bowel cancer screening hubs and services should use standard letter templates contained in the national Bowel Cancer Screening System (BCSS) database when inviting individuals for screening and when communicating results of screening tests.

People with a learning disability

Services can use and adapt the relevant easy read format content from the versions above when communicating with individuals with a learning disability and others who struggle with written English.

The easy read invitation letter should be used together with a copy of the bowel cancer screening easy guide. The 3 easy read result letters – ‘no further tests required’, ‘previous cancer, no further tests required’ and ‘more tests needed’ – can be used and adapted as appropriate according to an individual’s screening result.

People with a hearing loss

People with hearing loss who use British Sign Language (BSL) should be directed to the BSL signed content.
