Details

Building for 2050 is a study of the construction of low-cost, low-carbon buildings. It aims to understand:

  • the attitudes towards and challenges of this type of home
  • the costs and cost drivers associated with their construction
  • their energy performance once occupied

It does this through a combination of physical monitoring and social research at 4 case study housing developments. Its output will provide evidence to support low-carbon building construction policy and inform future emissions reductions plans. Find out more at www.buildingfor2050.co.uk.

This 5-year research project began in 2017 and completed in 2022, at a cost of around £1.9 million.
