To appeal business rates and change an entry in the 2017 rating list for properties in Wales, use form VO7012.​

There are now only 2 reasons for proposing a change (making an appeal) to the rateable value. These are (either of these apply):

  • the rateable value is wrong because of an alteration made by the Valuation Office Agency
  • the valuation is wrong because of a court decision

You must send appeals for property affected by a court decision by 30 September 2023.

For an entry in the 2023 rating list, you will need to use a business rates valuation account to tell the Valuation Office Agency that:​

  • your property details need changing​
  • you think that your rateable value is too high​
  • you want to appoint an agent to act on your behalf​

How to use a business rates valuation account​

You can no longer make appeals for entries on the 2010 rating list.​
