The Fast Stream is the Civil Service’s flagship graduate-level leadership development programme. It aims to equip some of the brightest citizens with the knowledge, skills and networks they need to be future Civil Service leaders. It is an investment in talent, intended to ensure present and future governments are supported by an efficient and effective Civil Service with the right skill set and the versatility to respond to changing priorities. We strive to have a Civil Service Fast Stream offer that rivals the best graduate schemes in the UK. One reflective of Civil Service strategic workforce requirements that enable the government to deliver better outcomes for UK citizens.
This recruitment data forms part of the extensive evidence gathering we are carrying out. By 2024, there will be a refreshed high-quality training offer to make sure we maintain a programme fit for the needs of modern government. It will include for example core skills for government and digital, data and technology. This will be part of a united Civil Service training curriculum set out in the 5 strands of the Curriculum and Campus for Government Skills. The Civil Service recruits to the Fast Stream strictly based on fair and open competition and selection on merit.
