This report summarises the findings from a mixed-method study exploring best communication practices during international travel disruption. The study also aimed to design and test a communication toolkit for travel operators and stakeholders.

The study involved a scoping review, interviews with stakeholders, interviews and focus groups with travellers, and an online experiment with a sample of 2,001 UK adults.

The findings and communication toolkit aim to help the Department for Transport (DfT), transport operators and partners to develop effective communication for travel disruption.

This research was commissioned by the DfT and conducted by Verian between May 2023 and February 2024.
