Details

This prison service instruction (PSI) sets out rules and guidance for the smooth running and safety of a prison while people are moving around, including managing the radio network and coordinating responses to incidents.

It covers:

  • roles and responsibilities for communication and control rooms
  • standards and best practice for internal radio networks
  • managing and maintaining security equipment
  • managing perimeter security
  • what to do in an incident or emergency
  • moving prisoners around the prison and roll checks
  • the use of national call signs

This is a current PSI. It came into effect on 1 April 2011.
