Details

The department commissioned the Building Research Establishment to carry out a project on compartment size, resistance to fire and fire safety.

The findings of this research will be considered in the technical review of Approved Document B (Fire Safety), for which the government issued a call for evidence on 18 December 2018.

The main aim of the project was to produce evidence and data based on research, experimental fire testing, computer modelling and laboratory testing, where necessary, on a number of linked work streams in relation to fire safety and associated provisions in Part B of Schedule 1 of the Building Regulations.
