Details

The Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS) has prepared this report as part of the legal requirement for public authorities to publish their gender pay gap every year.

DCMS is committed to minimising the gender pay gap, and our approach to pay seeks to reward all staff fairly, regardless of gender.

Since our last gender pay gap report, the number of employees working for DCMS increased by 35% from March 2017 to March 2018 and our gender pay gap has also increased on both the mean and median measure.

The key issues that have been highlighted by our gender pay gap figures are the higher proportion of women in our administrative grades and a wider variation in salaries at the Director level, with the highest three salaries being held by men.

However, our data also shows that 88% of staff in DCMS sit within job grades that have negligible gender pay gaps. Our action plan targets the remaining 12% of staff in the two grades that have higher gender pay gaps, whilst also aiming to maintain the very low gender pay gaps we have at other job grades.
